Does a Black Friday subscription renew at full price?
Usually yes: most Black Friday subscription deals are introductory rates that auto-renew at the regular price when the deal period ends, so the fix is to note that date and set a reminder before it, the day you sign up. The FTC consumer advice page on auto-renewals says a renewal can cost more if you started on a promotional rate, and tells you to read renewal notices instead of dismissing them.
A deal is a price with an end date. Write down the end date.
Honest limits first
- MoneyShield does not cancel anything, request refunds or connect to your bank. You type each subscription in yourself.
- It does not read your offer's terms. If you enter the wrong renewal date, the reminder is wrong too.
- The earliest alerts, up to 30 days ahead, and unlimited subscriptions are part of MoneyShield Plus. You start with 7 days of Full Protection, no payment needed, then move to the free plan automatically.
- Totals are estimates built from the prices you enter.
Who should skip this
If you signed up for one deal and already put the renewal in your calendar, you're done; a calendar event is enough. If your deals are all billed through Apple, the Subscriptions page in iPhone Settings already lists their renewal dates. MoneyShield earns its place when you have several deals from different places: an app, a website, a streaming bundle, a store membership.
Three deals, one December
An illustration, not a real person.
Black Friday night: a music app at $3 a month for 6 months, a news site at $1 a week for a year, and a meal-kit box with the first delivery half off. Three different companies, three emails, three different end dates.
In May the music app rolls to its regular price. The news site's year ends the next November. The meal kit charges full price on the second box, nine days after the first. That last one is the one that usually gets missed, because nobody thinks of a box as a subscription.
Logged on the night, each gets a reminder a week before. In May there is one decision to make, not a surprise charge to dispute.

Calendar event
Free, already on your phone. Works for one or two deals. Doesn't total what you spend.
Apple's Subscriptions page
Shows renewal dates for anything Apple bills. Doesn't see deals you bought on a company's website.
MoneyShield
One list for app, web and store deals, trials and returns, with reminders. You type each one in. We make it.
Black Friday subscription questions
Do Black Friday subscription deals renew at full price?
Usually, unless the offer says otherwise. The FTC consumer advice page on auto-renewals (last modified December 9, 2025) warns that a renewal can cost more if you started on a promotional rate. Read the offer terms for the words renews at, then, or after.
When will my Black Friday deal renew?
Count from the day you sign up. A 12-month deal started on Black Friday, November 27, 2026, would typically renew around November 27, 2027; a 6-month deal around May 27, 2027. Your receipt or account page shows the exact date.
Can I cancel right after signing up and keep the deal?
Often you can turn off auto-renew and keep access until the paid period ends, but it depends on the company's terms. Check before you cancel. For subscriptions billed by Apple, Apple Support (published September 29, 2026) shows the path: Settings, your name, Subscriptions.
Can I get the deal price again next year?
Sometimes. The FTC notes you may be able to cancel and resubscribe for a new promotional rate, and suggests marking when the new promotion ends. Nothing guarantees a deal will return.
What should I do if a renewal charges me without warning?
Contact the company first and keep records. If you were charged without consent and they won't refund you, the FTC suggests contacting your card company promptly to dispute the charge.
Is MoneyShield free?
You start with 7 days of Full Protection with no payment, then move to the free plan automatically. MoneyShield Plus ($3.99 a month, $24.99 a year or $59.99 once, U.S. prices from the listing) adds unlimited deadlines and subscriptions, alerts up to 30 days ahead, saved What If scenarios and export.
Try it tonight
Add the deal the night you buy it. One design decision we made: nothing is connected to your bank or email, so every reminder is one you chose.
