How many cars can a mobile detailer do a day?
Divide your working day by one job's real block (service time plus setup, pack-up and the drive to the next address) and round down; with long details or 30-minute drives that is often two or three cars, and the quickest way to fit another is to cut the driving, not the detailing.
Most "how many cars" answers only count the time on the car. A mobile day is car, pack, drive, unpack, car. The drive and setup are the part you can actually shrink, by booking one area per day and by quoting with a buffer that matches reality instead of hope.
Detailing time is skill. Drive time is scheduling. Fix the scheduling.
Honest limits
- No maps, no routes. BookingSolved doesn't look up addresses or traffic. Your buffer is a number you set per service.
- No prices or deposits. Service presets store names, durations and buffers only.
- No booking page. Clients keep texting you; you share each request into the app.
- Apple Calendar is the source of truth. iOS 18 or later. First 3 completed actions free, then BookingSolved Pro.
Who should pick something else: a multi-van operation that needs route optimization, online booking and card deposits should look at a field-service or detailing platform. A detailer doing two cars on Saturdays can keep a paper diary.
Reading your result: one interior day, worked out
Take the calculator's starting numbers: interior jobs of 2.5 hours, 20 minutes to set up and pack up, 30-minute drives, a 9-hour day. That's two cars, 30 minutes of driving and almost three hours left over, which is frustratingly close to a third car but not quite one.
Now book the day in one neighborhood so drives drop to 15 minutes. Three jobs at 170 minutes each plus two 15-minute drives is 540 minutes: exactly 9 hours. Same skill, same day length, one more car. Nothing about the detailing changed; only the order of the addresses did.
The third car was hiding in the drive time.
Set up drive-time buffers in 4 visual steps
Edit your detailing services
Start from the auto detailing preset list, then set each service's real duration and a prep or travel buffer. A full detail might be 4 hours plus 40 minutes of buffer. The calculator above helps you pick that number.
Share the "when are you free?" text
Paste it or share a screenshot. You get a few open times inside your business hours, around existing appointments, using that service's duration and buffer.

Open times that already leave room for the drive. Book the yes
"Tuesday at 2 works!" becomes a proposed appointment, checked against Calendar again right before saving. Tap twice by accident and it still won't duplicate.

Book + Copy: Calendar updated, reply copied. Handle the rain day
"Can we move it an hour later?" shows a before-and-after preview and moves only when you approve. Undo checks nothing changed in Calendar before reversing.

Recent actions, each one undoable.
Set the buffer once. Every suggested time respects it.
Three ways to fit one more car a day
Zone days
North side Tuesdays, south side Thursdays. Costs nothing; needs clients to accept your day.
Honest buffers
Stops the 20-minute late arrivals that push the last car past sunset. Works in any calendar.
Faster replies
Less time typing between cars. This is the part BookingSolved does; it won't plan the route.
Mobile detailing schedule questions
How many cars can a mobile detailer do in a day?
It depends on the service mix and the driving. Add each job's length, your setup and pack-up time, and the drive to the next address, then see how many fit in your working day. Long full details and long drives cut the number fast; the calculator on this page does the math.
How much travel time should I leave between detailing jobs?
Use your real average drive between clients plus a cushion for loading water, power and towels. Time a normal week, then set that as the buffer so bookings stop overlapping.
How do I fit more cars in without working longer?
Book by area. Grouping one part of town on the same day cuts drive time between jobs, which is often the cheapest hour you can win back.
Should I charge a travel fee?
Some detailers charge one for addresses outside their usual area. If you do, say so in your first reply so it is part of the quote, not a surprise.
Does BookingSolved plan routes?
No. It does not look up addresses, maps or traffic. Each service has a duration and a prep or travel buffer that you set, and open times are suggested around your existing Apple Calendar appointments using those numbers.
Is BookingSolved free?
Your first 3 completed actions are free. BookingSolved Pro is a monthly or yearly subscription for unlimited bookings, reschedules and cancellations; the price is shown in the app before you buy. Undo is always free.
