The short answer

What should a lash tech cancellation policy say?

A lash cancellation policy should state how many hours' notice you need, what a late cancel, a no-show and a late arrival cost, how old a fill can be before it becomes a full set, and whether a deposit holds the time. Write it once, send it before the first booking, and quote it the same way every time.
And when someone actually cancels late?
Reply fast, kind and specific: acknowledge them, name the policy in one line, offer a new time. The six replies in the PDF follow that order.

Before you rely on it

Honest limits

BookingSolved does not take deposits, charge cancellation fees or store prices. It reads a client message you choose, checks your Apple Calendar, and prepares the booking, reschedule or cancellation for you to approve, with a reply in a Friendly, Professional or Concise tone.
It never messages clients for you and never reads your conversations in the background. You paste or share the message; you send the reply. Your first 3 completed actions are free; BookingSolved Pro (monthly or yearly) adds unlimited ones. Undo is always free. It needs iOS 18 or later.
Who should pick something else: if you want clients to book and pay a deposit online at 2am without you, use a booking platform with card-on-file. BookingSolved is for lash techs who book by text and want to keep it that way.

Questions lash techs ask

Lash cancellation policy questions

What should a lash cancellation policy include?

Seven things: how much notice you need, what happens with late cancellations, no-shows and late arrivals, how fills work (how many lashes need to be left and within how many weeks), whether you take deposits, and how you handle illness. The free template has a line for each.

How much notice should a lash tech require?

Many lash artists ask for 24 or 48 hours, because a two-hour full set is hard to fill at short notice. Pick what you can realistically rebook, and say it the same way every time.

Can I charge a cancellation fee?

Many beauty pros do, but how you can charge depends on what the client agreed to and on the rules where you work. Put the policy in writing before the booking, and check local consumer rules if you are unsure. This page is not legal advice.

How do I enforce my policy without losing clients?

State it before booking, repeat it calmly when it applies, and decide in advance when you'll waive it (first offence, real emergency). Most friction comes from surprise, not from the fee itself.

Does BookingSolved charge deposits or cancellation fees?

No. BookingSolved turns a client's message into an Apple Calendar booking, reschedule or cancellation that you approve, with a reply ready to send. It stores no prices and takes no payments. Collect deposits and fees the way you do now.

Is the template free?

Yes. It is a direct PDF download, two pages, no sign-up: the fill-in policy and six reply texts.

How it works

How to handle a late cancel in 3 steps

  1. Share the message. Paste the client's text or choose a screenshot. Only what you choose is read, on your iPhone.
  2. Approve the change. BookingSolved finds the existing appointment and shows the exact event before cancelling, or a before-and-after preview for a reschedule.
  3. Send your reply. An editable reply is ready. Add your policy line from the PDF, then send it yourself.

One design decision we made: nothing changes in your Calendar until you approve it, and Undo checks that nothing else changed before reversing anything. A cancelled lash set is annoying; a wrongly cancelled one is worse.
