Do barbers need a booking app?
Only if clients need to book without you, or you want deposits and no-show fees charged automatically; if your clients text you and you can answer between cuts, a calendar plus a faster way to turn texts into bookings is often enough.
Three questions. One answer.
Do new clients need to book while you're cutting or asleep, without messaging you?
Yes → Get a booking platform with a public booking page. Square Appointments lists a free single-location plan with a booking website; GlossGenius starts at $24 a month billed yearly ($28 monthly).
No → next question.
Do you need deposits or no-show fees taken automatically?
Yes → You need card-on-file or prepayment. Square lists cancellation and no-show fees on its Plus plan ($29 a month per location); GlossGenius's plan table lists deposits and cancellation policies.
No → next question.
Do most clients already text or DM you, and do you live in Apple Calendar?
Yes → Keep texting. Under about ten booking texts a week, saved replies may be all you need; above that, BookingSolved turns each text into a checked booking and a reply.
No → A paper book or any shared calendar works. Don't buy software to fix a problem you don't have.

Barber booking questions
Do barbers need a booking app?
Not always. If most clients text or DM you and you reply between cuts without losing track, a calendar and a few saved replies can be enough. You need a booking platform when clients must book without you (late at night, mid-cut) or when you want deposits and no-show fees charged automatically.
What is the cheapest way for a barber to take online bookings?
Square Appointments lists a free plan for a single location with a free customer booking website, as of November 3, 2026; card payments carry processing fees. Its cancellation and no-show fees are listed on the Plus plan at $29 a month per location.
Should barbers take deposits?
It depends on how often you get no-shows and how your clients feel about paying upfront. A deposit needs a payment tool that stores a card or takes prepayment; texting alone can't do it. Many barbers start with a written policy and add deposits only for new clients.
Will clients still text me if I get a booking app?
Usually some will, especially regulars. Plan for both: a booking link for new clients and a fast way to handle the texts from the people who already have your number.
Does BookingSolved give clients a booking link?
No. There is no booking portal and no connected inbox. Clients keep contacting you the way they already do; you paste or share their message and BookingSolved prepares the Apple Calendar booking and a reply for you to approve and send.
How much does BookingSolved cost?
Your first 3 completed actions are free. BookingSolved Pro is a monthly or yearly subscription for unlimited bookings, reschedules and cancellations; the price is shown in the app before you buy. Undo is always free.
What your texting number means
Under 1 hour a month. Texting is working. Save three replies (confirm, offer times, reschedule) in your phone's text replacement and move on.
1 to 4 hours a month. The time is real but the system isn't broken. A tool that drafts the booking and the reply from the client's text saves the typing without changing how clients reach you.
Over 4 hours a month. That is a few haircuts' worth of time. If those texts are mostly from new clients, a public booking page will save more than any reply tool.
Proof: a text, then a booking

Who BookingSolved is not for
- Shops where clients book themselves online. There is no booking page. Use a booking platform.
- Barbers who need deposits. BookingSolved stores no prices and takes no payments.
- Google Calendar shops. It works with Apple Calendar.
A Saturday at the chair
Eleven cuts on the book. Between the second and third, four texts arrive: a regular asking for “same time next week”, someone asking when you're free Thursday, a client moving tomorrow's 2 pm an hour later, and a new number asking about a fade.
Old way: open Calendar, scroll, switch to Messages, type, switch back, add the event, hope you didn't misread Thursday. With BookingSolved you share each message: the regular gets a booking checked against your Calendar, Thursday gets three open times, the move shows a before-and-after preview. You approve each one and send the replies yourself. The fade question you answer the normal way. It took the time it takes to dry your hands.
One design decision we made: anything unclear, like “next Friday”, is flagged instead of guessed. A wrong guess in a barber's book is a double booking.
Honest limits
- Your first 3 completed actions are free. Unlimited bookings, reschedules and cancellations need BookingSolved Pro (monthly or yearly).
- Requires iOS 18 or later; iPhone and iPad.
- It never reads your conversations in the background and never contacts clients. Each message is one you choose to share.
- The texting-time calculator multiplies the numbers you pick. It isn't a measurement of your shop.
